80’s Night Out! with A Flock of Seagulls, Naked Eyes, and Men Without Hats

A Flock of Seagulls is a British new wave band formed in 1979 in Liverpool. Known for their catchy synth-driven sound and iconic "spiky" hairstyles, the group achieved international success with hits like "I Ran (So Far Away)" and "Space Age Love Song." Their blend of futuristic pop and post-punk made them pioneers of the 1980s music scene.

Naked Eyes is a British synth-pop band formed in 1982. Known for their catchy melodies and electronic sound, they rose to fame with hits like "Always Something There to Remind Me" and "Promises, Promises." Their blend of new wave and pop made them a key part of the 1980s music scene.

Men Without Hats is a Canadian new wave band formed in 1977, best known for their hit "The Safety Dance." With their quirky, catchy blend of synth-pop and post-punk influences, the band became iconic in the 1980s. Their playful sound and distinctive style made them memorable in the era’s music scene.

Diamond Rio

Originating as The Tennessee River Boys in the 80’s, the band evolved into Diamond Rio in 1989. The following year, they signed with Arista Nashville, and in 1991, with the release of “Meet in The Middle,” became the first country music group in history to reach No. 1 with a debut single. The band is also known for their multi-week chart-topper “How Your Love Makes Me Feel,” crossover hit “One More Day,” as well as timeless hits “Beautiful Mess,” “Unbelievable,” “I Believe,” and many more. 

Selling more than 6.8 million albums and surpassing over 1.05 billion global streams, Diamond Rio has charted 20 Top 10 singles, 15 Top 5 singles, and seven No. 1 singles. Known for playing every note on every album throughout their career, the band’s unwavering commitment to their craft is evident in their instrumental tracks “Big,” “Appalachian Dream,” and “Poultry Promenade,” all of which received Grammy nominations for Best Country Instrumental Performance. Following their Arista Nashville deal, the band released two albums with Word Records – their Christmas album, The Star Still Shines, and their Dove and Grammy-winning Christian Country album, The Reason.

In 1987 the four original members of Blues Traveler—John Popper, Chandler Kinchla, Brendan Hill, and the late Bobby Sheehan—gathered in their drummer’s parent’s basement in Princeton, NJ to jam. From these high school sessions emerged a band that would go on to release 14 studio albums and counting, four of which have gone gold, three platinum, and one six-times platinum- selling more than 10 million combined units worldwide. Over an illustrious career Blues Traveler has played over 2,000 live shows in front of more than 30 million people, and, in “Run-Around,” had the longest-charting radio single in Billboard history, which earned them a Grammy® for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals. Their movie credits include Blues Brothers 2000, Kingpin, Wildflowers and others. A television favorite, they have been featured on Saturday Night Live, Austin City Limits, VH1's Behind the Music and they have the record for the most appearances of any artist on The Late Show with David Letterman. Blues Traveler’s latest effort, 2021’s Traveler’s Blues, is nominated for a Grammy in the category of “Best Traditional Blues Album,” bringing their 35+ year journey full circle.

Gin Blossoms is an American alternative rock band formed in 1987 in Tempe, Arizona. The band rose to prominence following the 1992 release of their first major label debut album, NewMiserable Experience, and the first single released from that album, "Hey Jealousy” became a Top 25 hit and went gold. New Miserable Experience eventually went quadruple pla0num and three other char0ng singles were released from the album including "Allison Road" and "Un0l IFall Away". The band's follow-up album, Congratula0ons I'm Sorry(1996), went pla0numincluding the Grammy-nominated "As Long as It Ma]ers" and the top 10 single “Follow YouDown”. Gin Blossoms continue to tour every year and in recent years has shared the stage with Collective Soul, Barenaked Ladies, and Hootie & The Blowfish.
